Three months ago I picked up a copy of The Belly Fat Cure by Jorge Cruise at my local library’s Friends of the Library store. I brought it home, began to read it, and the next day I went cold turkey on added sugar and began following his diet.
In three months I’ve lost 14 pounds and 2 1/2 inches off my belly. Now that’s not the 4 to 9 lbs. per week promised by the book’s cover, but I’m very happy with those results, especially the other key result I’ve had: a drop of over 40 points on my blood sugar average and a current A1C of 7.0. That means my diabetes is now under control and I’m no longer obese (still overweight, but not obese).
The Belly Fat Cure has two essential elements: Limit sugar intake (no more than 15 grams per day) and limit carbs (no more than six units of carbs containing 5 to 20 grams of carbs each).
By 15 grams of sugar, Jorge is not talking about white sugar or honey or maple syrup (don’t eat those at all). He’s talking about limiting the natural sugars found in many foods:
6 to 12 grams of sugar contained in one cup of plain yogurt
4 to 6 grams of sugar in a cup of cottage cheese
2 grams of sugar in a cup of cut cauliflower
2 grams of sugar in a cup of cooked black beans
10 to 18 grams in a banana
10 to 20 grams of sugar in a cup of blueberries or other berries
20 to 100 grams of sugar in many restaurant meals
Fortunately, there’s very little sugar in meat, chicken, fish, or cheese.
For me, this simple system has been easy to use and proven to be very effective. I have found The Belly Fat Cure to be the best weight loss and diabetes control system out there.
